Full text: 3 in 1938, I recall getting my first call to tune a piano at the Palace Theatre on Hanover Street in Manchester, NH. In 1939 Vaudeville Shows started at the Palace and lasted until 1954. Today, I am still tuning at the Palace Theatre, 54 years later. Some of the entertainers that performed there were: Jimmy Durante Ted Lewis Jack Lemon Baby Rose Marie and many more to numerous to name In more recent years I have tuned at the Palace Theatre for: The New Hampshire Symphony The New Hampshire Philharmonic Preservation Hall Jazz Band Myron Floren Operas Baleas & Choral Groups And so many more In 1942 I started servicing all the pianos at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. In 1980, after 38 years I resigned. I then thought I was all done with the University System. Not so. The Merrimack Valley Branch in Manchester soon caught me and I am still hooked to the 4 University System here in Manchester. Now 50 years service. During the second World War, I also serviced the pianos at Keene State College for about 6 years. There was no Piano Technician in the area at that time and I consented to service them through that period until a technician returned to the area. The 50 years at the University System have been wonderful years. I have had the pleasure of tuning for many renound concert artists. At the start of the second World War, something happened. Gasoline became very scarce. As a result, Piano Technicians no longer wanted to travel long distances. Therefore, all concert tunings were sent to me from the Steinway Artist Bureau and also the Baldwin Artist Bureau for all concerts in New Hampshire. I also inherited all the concert tunings for all the concerts of the Community Concerts Associations in the state of New Hampshire. I covered the area from Portsmouth to Keene and from the Massachusetts border to Laconia, New Hampshire. Even Colby Junior College in New London, New Hampshire. This lasted for some 15 years.
