During the Spanish-American War, Christy accompanied soldiers into battle and provided several magazines with his drawings of events on the battlefield. After the war, he became famous for his artwork in books, magazines, calendars and posters depicting a young woman who became known as the "Christy Girl" seen here. She appeared in a number of WW I recruitment, Liberty Loan and Red Cross posters.
