A portrait of Pontus Fürstenberg and his wife, Göthilda Fürstenberg, née Magnus. Pontus Fürstenberg was a patron of art, member of municipality, b. 1827 in Gothenberg, d. there 1902. From 1853-81 merchant in Gothenberg. Founded Fürstenberg Gallery there (1885), gathering the most magnificent collection of modern art in the possession of any private Swede at close of 19th century. Göthilda Fürstenberg, née Magnus, b. 1837, d. 1901.
