A photograph of Clara Barton and a portion of the text of a transcribed letter on the cover of the January, 1911 issue of the Worcester Magazine. The letter pertains to the death of Julia Ward Howe. The cover and the letter refers to the main article of the issue, called "Little Visits to the Homes of Worcester County's Famous Sons and Daughters" that not only talks about Clara Barton, but also General Artemas Ward, George Bancroft and Elias Howe. Clara Barton was the founder of the American Red Cross and an Oxford, Massachusetts native. Julia Ward Howe was a famous American abolitionist, social activist and poet who is best known for "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" that was first published in 1862. She died in 1910.
