Letter from Caleb Stetson, Medford, [Mass.], to Samuel May, Oct. 16, 1845
Description:
Stetson tells May that he does not plan to go to the Semi-Annual Convention in New York. He thinks that the subject of slavery should be brought up at the meeting, but does not favor urging those who did not initially sign the "Protest Against Slavery" to reconsider. Stetson says that the Congregationalists are also planning a "Protest Against Slavery." He comments on George Putnam's wish to withdraw his name from the "Protest."
