Letter from Hamilton Hill, Oberlin, [Ohio], to William Lloyd Garrison, Nov. 20th, 1849
Description:
Hamilton Hill explains that he did not stop over in Boston on his return trip from Europe because he was in haste to go home. He discusses "Mr. Marshall the colored man, who wished to obtain a recommendation from you [William Lloyd Garrison] to friends in England ..." Marshall claims that he did not ask for money from philanthropist friends during his trip to London or elsewhere in Europe to be used to defray the expense of his education. Hill asks William Lloyd Garrison for a letter telling of his remembrance of Marshall asking for money.
