<mods:note>William Lloyd Garrison was sorry to hear that Samuel May, Jr. was sick. He heard that Samuel Joseph May was also ill, but learned that he has since recovered. He warned Samuel Joseph May to take care of his health. He heard from Wendell Phillips Garrison that the National Testimonial needs someone to solicit contributions in New York. He infers that Dr. Bellows was unable to do it himself. He thinks that the Testimonial committee should bring the fundraising to a close. William Lloyd Garrison was unable to earn a living this past year due to his "suffering and crippled condition." He doubts that Mrs. Garrison will ever get well. William Lloyd Garrison's shoulder is still very painful.</mods:note>
