William Lloyd Garrison received a "large photographic card containing 50 photographic portraits of 'The Friends of Freedom,'" by George W. Rose. Some of the people represented in the photo are strangers to Garrison or hostile to him, therefore he doesn't want to buy the card. Garrison comments: "I presume Mr. Rose is ignorant of the history of our struggle with the 'New Organization,' ---and, indeed, ignorant as to how a group should be made up, if he expects to secure a sale for it." Garrison asks Oliver Johnson to return the card to George W. Rose. George Washington Julian wants William Lloyd Garrison to go Washington to lecture. Garrison is under medical treatment for a bad cold.
