William Lloyd Garrison describes the placidness of the other patients undergoing the water cure. Dr. Ruggles is blind and has much physiological knowledge. The scenery in Northampton is romantic. Garrison is delighted at the prospect of a visit from Mrs. Meriam and her father Francis Jackson; there is a reference to their trip to Niagara.
