Holograph.
Letter written in pencil.
William Lloyd Garrison sends his condolences on the death Mr. Needles's mother. Garrison writes: "You do not use extravagant language when you say, that she was 'not a woman in a thousand, but one in a million.' My recollections of her are of the most pleasant kind. ..."
On the verso, there is a separate note by Harry C. Hines to William Lloyd Garrison, Aug. 18, 1873, which has been crossed out. Hines asks: "Will you please favor me with your autograph and oblige."
