Handwritten copy of letter; not William Lloyd Garrison's handwriting.
This letter is in reply to John Mawson's letter of welcome. William Lloyd Garrison says that the triumph of the anti-slavery cause "has removed from myself and my coadjutors at home this reproach and ostracism to which we were subjected for so many years; ..." He mentions the National Testimonial and its signers at the breakfast given in his honor at St. James and a public dinner in Manchester on July 4th. Garrison gives his itinerary.
