<mods:abstract>Tuscumbia, Ala. Feby 23, 1890 Mr. M. Anagnos Athens, Greece My dear Sir, I have intended to write you for several weeks, but have been absent from home much of the time winding up my official duty and looking after some private interests. My wide has written you several times, I think, and doubtless told you all she knew about Helen. We get letters regularly from her and Miss Annie and occasionally from Mrs. Hopkins. We heard by today's mail from Miss A. [?], and were glad to hear of an improvement in her health which has not been good this winter. "La grippe" has prevailed over America I believe. Fortunately we have had light attacks which yielded readily to treatment. I was very hopeful of your early return To American when we consented to let our dear child return to Boston and still hope...</mods:abstract>
