Dear Miss Sullivan, I should like very much to have you and Helen Keller in the institution but I do not see that it is possible at present. The kindergarten is full and others are waiting to enter as soon as there are vacancies. In the girls department here, every bed has been assigned for the next year, and unless there should be sickness or death there would be no place there. In the boys department there is no room available but the guest chamber, and in a family as large as this is that is often required. Of course she could come as a day pupil if a home could be found for you but that I presume would be objectionable to you on some accounts. Even if there were accommodations for two of you, I think in the absence of Mr. Anagnos I should desire a vote of the trustees before she were admitted without expense. One reason is that in the case of Edith Thomas, although a Massachusetts child, a special appropriation of $300 per anum was asked for and obtained from the legislature, on the ground that hers was a...
