Letter from Michael Anagnos to Capt. Keller, May 12, 1889
Description:
May 12th 9 My dear Capt. Keller, Your favor of the 16th instant, enclosing cheque for $40.00 (forty dollars) to purchase Eva Ramsdell's ticket to Tuscumbia is received. Please accept my thanks for the same. I would say in reply, that Eva will leave Boston on Monday evening, May 20th. I have just written to my cousin, Mrs. Quackenbush, to meet her at the railroad station in Washington on Tuesday forenoon and take care of her until 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon, when the train starts for the South. If no unforeseen delay occurs in the course of her journey, she will reach your place on Wednesday night, May 22nd. I can hardly give adequate expression to my feelings and tell you in words how sorry I am at my inability to see Helen before sailing for Europe. I think constantly of the precious child, and I sincerely wish I could give myself the pleasure to go to Tuscumbia and spend a few days under your hospitable roof enjoying her delightful ways and feasting on the delicious products of your garden, and then return to Boston and arrange for my long pilgrimage. But this pleasure is beyond my reach at present, and I must defer it to some future time. Please give my love to each and all, and believe me, with best wishes and cordial greetings, Ever sincerely yours, M. Anagnos. Capt. A.H. Keller. Tuscumbia, Alabama.
