Monte Sano July 24th My dear Mr. Anagnos -- Under any other circumstances than those I have been contending with, my delay in writing you would have been inexcusable but when I tell you how ill the little woman has been and is, I know you will understand. I was utterly unprepared to find her in such a low state of health, she has fallen off until she is only a shadow... p. 2 ...and her stomach seems to have lost all tone. I brought her here 4 days ago, hoping the pure air, and water would help her. She has not as yet I grieve to say improved but I hope every thing from the place: it is cool enough for a blanket at night, fine breeze all day and certainly I have never seen any thing more beautiful and picturesque thru the county around. When you come to see us we must come here and spend a day. I had a letter yesterday from Miss Sullivan and the "little woman" ...
