<mods:abstract>January 21st My dear Sir, I can recommend to you a young lady as governess of your little daughter heartily and without any reservation. Her name is Miss Annie M. Sullivan. She is one of the recent graduates of this school: but her sight has been for several years steadily improving, so that she is now able to read and write. She is exceedingly intelligent, strictly honest, industrious, lady-like in her manners and very aimiable. Her moral character is all that can be desired. The valedictory address which she composed and delivered at commencement exercises of this institution last June, and which you will find on the 125th page of our annual report, will give you some idea of her literary ability. She is familiar with Laura Bridgman's case and with the methods of teaching deaf-mute and blind children, and I assure you, that she will make an excellent instructress and most reliable guide for your little daughter.
