My dear Contemporary and Friend: I am just in receipt of your telegram telling me of the passing of your beloved teacher, Dr. Anne Sullivan Macy. We mourn with you the necessity of parting company for the time being with this great personality, but no one of us can realize how hard the parting must be for you to whom she meant so much. The very wording of your telegram, however, speaks volumes of sympathy in that it says "My teacher is free at last from pain and blindness."
