Summary provided by the Society for American Baseball Research, 2010-2011.
The only game Foxx ever caught for the Red Sox while Lou Gehrig played for the Yankees was at Fenway Park on August 11, 1937. This image was taken in the 14th inning of Game 1 of the August 11 doubleheader. Jimmie Foxx had just switched positions from first base to catcher after two Red Sox teammates were ejected. Yankee Joe DiMaggio was the first Yankee batter to bat with Foxx behind the plate and he reached base before Lou Gehrig flied out to end the inning.
