Edes House. First dwelling erected after the destruction of the town in 1775. It was owned by Thomas Edes, the ancestor of Henry H. Edes, who wrote the chapter entitled "Charlestown in the Last Hundred Years" in the Memorial History of Boston. Mr. Edes was the author also of an excellent history of the Harvard Unitarian Church. Part of this house may have been the original edifice of 1759 built of oak grown near by and not burned during the battle, but used by the British for a time at least.
