Winthrop Church and G.A.R. Hall. On Green Street, before the church lost its spire and, still later, changed its name to the First Parish. The present church building was erected in 1849. Its pastors have included the Rev. Abbott E. Kittredge, 1859-63, later pastor of the Madison Ave. Reformed Church in N.Y.; the Rev. Charles R. Brown, later dean of Yale Divinity School; and Wm. Byron Forbush, active in the early days of the Bunker Hill Boys' Club and well-known writer of books on boys work.
