Site of Spring Hotel horse sheds, shortly after sheds were torn down. Briggs Potter kept the livery stables on Spring Street until they burned down in 1841 .Wagon in foreground bears the sign: "T.P. Emerson, Watertown Express". Emerson bought the business from F.E. White in 1867 when he employed four men and six horses. In 1893, Emerson employed nine men and 26 horses. Emerson Express incorporated in 1900. The Unitarian Church is in background.
