Phelps, Thomas Lafon expresses his desire to discuss certain difficulties that missionaries under the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions are facing. He would like to show Phelps a few letters from missionaries that illustrate such problems, but he cannot leave home because his wife is seriously ill. He discusses the organizational structure of the Board that contributes to the public ignorance of such existing problems.</mods:abstract>
