- Elizabeth Fries (Lummis) Ellet, New York, autograph letter signed to Frances Sargent (Locke) Osgood, 8 July [1846?]
Mrs. Osgood has been "grossly misrepresented." The letter shown to Mrs. Ellet by Mrs. Poe must have been a forgery. Retracts her charges about Mrs. Osgood's relations with Poe, and regrets her acquaintance with such people as the Poes.
