A death notice sent to William Lloyd Garrison for insertion in the next issue of the Liberator, written by Cicero of the West, about the horrible death of Mr. Doroty, who was oiling machinery and was caught between large wheels. Mr. Doroty was survived by "a wife and 6 small Children, who were dependent on his labor for their living." It was hoped that the "benevolent may assist the unfortunate."
On the verso is a "Disunion Pledge," a unsigned petition for the "dissolution of the Union, as the most consistent, feasible, and efficient means of abolishing Slavery."
