William Lloyd Garrison encloses a letter from Fanny Garrison Villard. Henry Villard's health has not improved. He discusses Wendell Phillips Garrison and family visiting Rockledge in August. William and Ellie Garrison are enjoying themselves in Jefferson, New Hampshire, at the Wambek House. William Lloyd Garrison gives news of his grandchildren and says that "Little German Oswald must look to his laurels." Alfred Webb sent a letter saying that his father, Richard Davis Webb, has died. Garrison denies that he and other New Englanders are to blame for the presidential candidacies of Horace Greeley and Ulysses S. Grant. He thinks well of Grant but has a poor opinion of Greeley.
