Memorial to Thomas Addis Emmet. Like his brother Robert, a leader in the cause of Irish independence. Born in Cork 1764, graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. Imprisoned by the British 1798-1802. Came to New York and in 1812 became Attorney General of the State of New York. After his death in 1827, buried in St. Marks-in-the-Bouwerie, N.Y., later transferred to Dublin Obelisk erected in 1833 through efforts of William James MacNeven whose memorial obelisk is in the N.E. corner of the churchyard. Inscriptions in English, Irish and Latin. Emmet, like many other Irish patriots of his time and later, was a member of the Church of Ireland (of the Anglican Communion). St. Paul's Cathedral, Trinity Parish, New York City, Broadway and Fulton Street.
