Letter from Lewis Tappan, New York, to Amos Augustus Phelps, 1846 February 16
Description:
In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Lewis Tappan says he is enclosing a letter to the convention and the letter from Mr. Jocelyn. He says he also encloses a letter from Mr. Scudder, which he says is the evidence of the necessity of a society that meets the wants of Christian abolitionists in all respects. He says he is personally in favor of continuing the Union Mission Society.
