The letter, entitled “Convention in behalf of Bible Missions” and signed by Timothy Stowe, Harvey Bushnell, William F. Sheldon, Isaac Ball, Syvanus Beckwith, Elisha Ware, and Titus Canfield, is addressed to “the friends of Bible Mission with State of New York.” It discusses the problem of slave-holding being accepted in missionary societies, and calls for a convention to discuss this subject. On the same sheet of paper, Stowe writes individually to Phelps to discuss the convention further in detail.
