Collation: Parchment, fol. ii (modern parchment) + 66 + i (medieval parchment) + iii (modern parchment) ; 1-6¹⁰ 7⁴⁺² (final two leaves are tipped-in singletons) ; decorative catchwords, lower center margin final verso each quire. Modern arabic pencil foliation, upper outer corner of each page.
Layout: Single column, 33 lines. Bounding and writings lines in light plummet or blind.
Script: Written in a rounded gothic bookhand in brown ink with red rubrics.
Decoration: Two-line red with blue or blue with red throughout, for chapter initials; sentence initials stroked yellow; eight-line red and blue puzzle initial on fol. 1 with red and blue filigree into inner and upper margin.
Binding: ca. 1915 English binding of crushed red morocco over boards by Katharine Adams, her signature stamp inside rear cover (a key with initials K A), title and date gilt-stamped on spine: "I FIOR/ETTI/ DI/ SAN/ FRAN/ CESCO" and "CIRCA/ MC/ CCC/ LXXX"; gilt fillet turn-ins. Original pastedown pulled up and preserved as parchment flyleaf at back (preceded by three modern parchment flyleaves), a leaf from a fifteenth-century manuscript of Lactantius' Divine Institutes, Book I, "De falsa religione," ch. xviii.
