<mods:abstract>This very rare German war plan of Boston and vicinity is an unusually fine topographic map. Its physical relief is symbolized by elaborately engraved hachures. A printed legend refers to the number and caliber of artillery and the location of troops that were situated in the city. The British and American units are shown in considerable detail. Also depicted are islands, soundings, and shallow areas in the harbor, along with the streets of Boston, and neighboring roads and villages. Derived from French sources, this is one of the few German maps of Revolutionary era Boston. Diese Carte ist von einen Englischen vor die Regierung aufgenomnen Originale copiret worden.</mods:abstract>
