<mods:note>Image caption: Old South Meeting-House, Boston, Massachusetts. The Old South Meeting-House stands at the corner of Washington and Milk Streets. It is the second oldest church building in the city. Governor John Winthrop had his home on the ground on which it stands, and here he died in 1649. The present structure was built in 1748, the walls of the former building being utilized--and here were held meetings too large for Faneuil Hall. John Hancock was here inaugurated first Governor of the Commonwealthof Massachusetts in 1780. It was used as the City Hall from 1813 to 1840.</mods:note>
