Abel Tanner writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to the ladies of Great Falls are considering holding an anti-slavery fairin which the proceeds will go toward the support of Nathaniel P. Rogers as editor of the "Herald of Freedom." For this purpose they request her to send them such articles as the Boston female anti-slavery society has left over from previous fairs. There was formerly in Great Falls a flourishing female anti-slavery society but "that perfect child of hell the spirit of Sectarian religion and New organization has succeeded in sowing the seeds of its own infernal character amongst thoughs [sic] who ownce [sic] delighted to labour faithfully for the slave." In a postscript she asks if she will send a line to Mrs. Mary Moses in regards to Mr. J.B. Moses letting her known about the contents of this letter.
