Letter from Lucy Stone, West Brookfield, [Massachusetts], to Samuel May, [1852] Sept[ember] 22
Description:
Lucy Stone writes to Samuel May telling him about a letter she received from Samuel Joseph May urging her "to come to that section to labor for a few weeks in the Anti Slavery cause." Stone quotes from the letter and asks May for his opinion, stating, "They seem ready to hear there, but as you're agent I would rather consult you and get your decision." Stone also tells May about another letter she received offering her $10 and the use of a hall to deliver a lecture in Herkimer, New York. She asks May to return the letters she has sent him with his next letter, and, in the postscript, Stone adds that her and her brother have held meetings in West Brookfield and Brimfield since she wrote to him.
