Letter from Lucy Stone, West Brookfield, [Massachusetts], to Samuel May, 1851 Aug[ust] 14
Description:
Lucy Stone writes to Samuel May stating that "Our Women's Rights Convention will be held (probably) on the 15th & 16th Oct[ober]." She tells May she has "not been well at all for several days ... and hope[s] to escape a fever" but that if she recovers soon, she will hold antislavery meetings on Sundays. The weekdays she wants "to use for Women's Rights, and the two, need not interfere that I see." Stone says she wishes to hold independent meetings in numerous Massachusetts towns to advocate for women's rights and reminds May that "you know that all reforms are fractions of a unit, and what helps one aids all." She also insists that more antislavery agents are needed.
