Letter from John Mawson, Ashfield, Gateshead, [England], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1867 June 29th
Description:
John Mawson writes to William Lloyd Garrison acknowledging Garrison's last letter with "the delightful intelligence that we should have the intense pleasure of seeing you at our fireside so soon ..." Mawson says that since Garrison's son [Francis Jackson Garrison] and daugther [Fanny Garrison Villard] are joining him, he will open up two rooms for them and they "shall have the heartiest welcome to a plain English home." He also asks Garrison about attending a breafast party with a number of invited guests, as he knows "many will want to see you." He says he understands Garrison's "object is recreation not labour, therefore, do not want to impose the least labour upon you in this suggestion." Mawson also says he is considering meeting Garrison in Manchester "where I first met you and from which place we travelled together to Darlington."
