Theodore Parker wrote to Mr. Manley, chairman of the Standing Committee, in regards to thanking him and the society for him for their support and discussing his illness. He writes, "My chance of recovery, is not more than one in ten." He says he has laid out a series of sermons for this winter on "important and attractive themes, all these must wait."
