Patrick Henry Greenleaf writes to William Lloyd Garrison and Isaac Knapp, sending them two dollars to pay for the Abolitionist and asking to "be enrolled as a member of the New England Anti-Slavery Society, which I believe entitles me to the this publication gratis." Greenleaf offers his assistance "in the noble & philanthropic cause" and suggests they open an auxiliary office of the New England Anti-Slavery Society in Portland.
