Description:
Francis Bishop writes to Mary Anne Estlin regarding antislavery news in Boston, specifically the Boston Bazaar and the N.Y. Vigilance Conference. He writes that Barker's lectures were "very coarse & offensive...against the Bible. He appears to me to have deteriorated very much in manner & bearing if not in feeling." Bishop will leave for Edinburgh tomorrow.

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript contains a letter with an envelope addressed to Miss Weston with annotations on the back that say "This spare copy of a recent letter from Ms. Bishop is only added to fill up & amuse you." This appears to be a partial copy of an original letter from Franics Bishop to Mary Anne Estlin, call number is MS A.1.2. v.24, p.121.
