<mods:abstract>Addressed to the "Colored Citizens of Massachusetts and elsewhere" this printed circular acknowledges "William Lloyd Garrison's retirement from thirty five years' editorship of the Liberator" and seeks to collect donations to give to him, "hoping the aggregate will reach one thousand dollars". The circular names the Executive Committee, with William C. Nell listed as the first name and John P. Coburn as Treasurer. The General Committee provides another 42 names, with more than half coming from Boston.</mods:abstract>
