Letter from George Thompson, Roxbury, [Massachusetts], to William Cooper Nell, 1867 Ap[ril] 17
Description:
George Thompson writes to William C. Nell stating he has seen Mr. [William Lloyd] Garrison and "on the subject of the Testimonial, he will appoint a time to receive the friends ..." He says he cannot tell Nell yet if he will be able "to attend the meeting to which you allude" but that he can give him a definitive answer once he knows Nell's plans. Thompson also says that he has "not yet seen the gift you are ... to present to our friend but hope to see it soon ..."

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on blue paper with a watermark that depicts a crown above a crest. Under the salutation, the number "29" is written in pencil. In the head spine corner of the page opposite the first page, "Geo. Thompson." has been written and underlined in black ink in a different handwriting.
