<mods:abstract>David Ruggles writes to William Lloyd Garrison expressing his regret at learning that he had a relapse. Ruggles advises Garrison to "keep quiet, and free from excitement." Ruggles also suggests Garrison spend "five or six weeks at a water-cure" and invites Garrison to the one at Northampton, stating it would give him "the highest gratification, to put you through free of charge."</mods:abstract>

<mods:note>Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. Above the salutation, the number "75" has been written in pencil, while in the head- spine corner a small checkmark has been drawn, also in pencil. Above the first line of the letter, below the date, there is a purple circular stamp containing the words, "Garrison MSS." Along the fore edge of the page, there is a small hole measuring about .9 cm x 1.9 cm. On the verso, the letter is addressed to "Wm Lloyd Garrison. 25 Cornhill Boston" and is postmarked with a red circular stamp that reads "Northampton Ms. Dec 7". Along the spine edge of this page, there is the remnant of a red seal that is mostly covered in paper.</mods:note>
