Solomon Purdy send William Lloyd Garrison three dollars to continue receiving the Liberator for another two years. Purdy describes how he enjoys the Liberator and defines Garrison's goal for his readers to "understand better the contents of the Bible," stating there is little hope of progress until "mankind in general understand the true contents of the Bible."

On the head- and spine corner there is a small checkmark or "v" written in pencil next to the number "118" also written in pencil. There are also a number of fold lines running both vertically and horizontally across the page.
