<mods:abstract>Aerial view of the Whittier Mills plant and surrounding housing, Chattahoochee, Georgia. Gelatin silver print, [1947-54]. Image depicts an aerial view of the Whittier Mills in Chattahoochee, Georgia. The plant is seen in the center left, with houses in rows on the right, probably company housing; the entire area is outlined in red ink. Another outlined area of houses is in the center right of the photo. Two roads run through the area at a 90 degree angle to each other. The Whittier Mills Co. manufactured cotton wrapping twine, cable and fire hose cord, weaving yarn and sewing thread. See 1992.126.3 for another aerial view from a much wider angle than this, and 1992.126.2 for an aerial view that includes only the main plant area. 50.5 x 40.5 cm. (OCLC)</mods:abstract>
