Every, a resident of Greenfield and 76 years old at the time of this interview, grew up in Southern California, the oldest of four children with a mother who was married and divorced many times. She lived in Hawaii for many years and worked as a property manager. At age 55 she went back to college and at age 60 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in organizational development. She and her husband moved to Massachusetts 12 years ago to be closer to her step daughter. In this interview, Every discussed being away from home at the onset of the pandemic in the U.S. and changing travel plans to make it home before the airlines shut down. She discusses changes to her daily life, feelings of depression at points during the pandemic, and how her spiritual beliefs and practices have sustained her, among other topics.
