On the left a rock. surmounted by a low lighthouse, abuts upon a high and massive wall which supports a road skirting the harbour. The lanterna is seen in the distance beyond the rock. Some sailing vessels are seen indistinctly in the evening light against a bank of clouds. The shadow extending to right from the top of the rock on which the small lighthouse stands has been greatly deepened, and the three distant masts near the end of this shadow have been reworked.
