Liberty's clock
Item Information
- Title:
- Liberty's clock
- Description:
-
The same composition as Dodgson number 206, but on a taller plate. The subject is arched at the top; ropes hanging from the line of the arch are connected at various points with the unfinished building on the right, while the longest of them reaches to a group of workmen standing at the foot of the hoarding in Beak Street. The street is crossed by numerous wires. A line is ruled across the plate 3/16 in. (4 mm.) from the bottom; the space beneath this line is blank, but in many impressions thickly covered with ink. At the corner of the building on the left - Liberty’s shop - is a perfectly plain white pilaster, the wall to the left of it being partly covered with trellis work. A large portion of the foreground is light, and the pavement on which a policeman and two women are standing has white patches on the right, towards the edge of the plate.
