Additional text on item: residence of the American Congregation of the Society of S. John the Evangelist, on Charles River Memorial Drive, Cambridge, which has just been completed. It is of Italian renaissance architecture, being designed by Ralph Adams Cram, who is a parishioner of the Mission Church of the Cowley Fathers on Bowdoin Street, Boston. The house, which is three stories in height, is of hollow-tile, covered on the outside with white plaster and has about twenty rooms. The Refectory is in the basement, the Common Room is on the ground floor, while on the second and third floors are the cells. The Father superior of the Order is the Rev. Spence Burton, graduate of Harvard, and formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Novice Master is the Rev. Granville Mercer Williams, Cornell graduate, whose home was in East Orange, New Jersey.
