Text from Brockton and South Shore District Master Craftsmen Series: Carl Chloth is one of the old school of hand lasters, of whom there are many in the Brockton and South Shore District. For twenty-nine years he has been employed by the M.N. Arnold Shoe Company, but his experience in lasting gates back eight years previous to that. Mr. Chloth is here shown pulling over by hand, a process desirable on very fine work. A pulling over machine was perfected a few years ago on which practically all of this work is now done.
