Notes:
The facilities at Bridgewater State Normal School for the teaching of science were expanded in the 1870s. The chemistry lab room and a room for philosophical apparatus were located on the first floor of the Normal School Building. In addition, there were cabinets for mineralogy and zoology specimens placed in the classrooms. Science classes included chemistry, botany and zoology, mineralogy and geology, and astronomy.
