Notes:
The Normal School building, erected in 1846, was the first state-funded building in the U.S. constructed specifically for the training of teachers. Normal Hall, the student dormitory, was erected in 1869. By the late 1870s, the dormitory could accommodate over 140 students - the school's enrollment numbered around 200 students.
